April, 2006: International Conference on Standardization of Emergency Preparedness

The International Conference on Emergency Preparedness took place at the Villa La Pietra in Florence, Italy. The conference was sponsored by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), InterCEP and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and focused on recommendations for standards for Emergency Preparedness which would be forwarded to the ISO working committees for further development. This conference was attended by representatives of standardization bureaus from various countries as well as interested parties from the private sector. ORI partners, Jeff Weir and Kevin Becker, presented the case for including standards for Human Impact Preparedness which were incorporated into the final recommendation forwarded to the ISO working committee.
