Dr. Kevin Becker, of Organizational Resilience International, received the Humanitarian Service Award 2006 at Foundation's 1st Anniversary and Fundraiser at the Lladro Gallery in Beverly Hills on Aug. 18 for his work following Hurricane Katrina.

Organizational Resilience International will be the subject matter experts for trainings sponsored by Real Medicine Foundation on "Teacher Training on Issues of Psychological Trauma in Children" in downtown Los Angeles' Skid Row area.

Dr. Becker and his team at ORI spent several months in hurricane affected areas in the Gulf coast following Katrina last year. Included among the work with various organizations was consultation and training for the Memphis Diocese School System. Hundreds of students from New Orleans and Mississippi were brought to Memphis after the disaster and were in need of significant psychological support. Training and working with teachers and administrators served to support the recovery of these students, their families and all others involved.

Real Medicine Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing support to people living in disaster, post-war, and poverty stricken areas, provided the funding and logistical support throughout this endeavor.
